In 1989 Dr. Donald Earl’s wife, Andrea, found a small white puppy in a box at a school playground. The very sick pup that came to be known as Booboo spent the next year struggling with distemper, but with thorough medical care as well as patience and lots of love from those around her, she made it through. Booboo was Dr. Earl’s best friend for 16 years — until she passed on four years ago — inspiring Dr. Earl’s new mission in life: creating a rescue center on site at the veterinary hospital he was planning to open.
Dr. Earl and his staff opened the full-service Lido Animal Hospital in February 2009 on the Newport peninsula, featuring all-new equipment and cutting-edge diagnostic tools combined with a warm and friendly in-house rescue center. The hospital teamed up with the Pup Squad Rescue a year ago and has since found homes for more than 200 animals.
