Since 1983, the center has served patients of all ages with their day-to-day ailments as well as providing nursing home care, laboratory work, EKGs, performing minor surgeries, basic orthopedics and DOT evaluations, Dr. Meadows said.

Sometimes patients arrive after minor accidents like falls, cuts, agricultural accidents, sports injuries and broken bones, and many of those can be treated al the facility also, with referrals given to outside specialists if needed.

Access to quality health care is important, Dr. Meadows said, and people need a family physician who can monitor their health as a whole. And because seeing a specialist is often more expensive, having a primary care physician who can treat some of the same conditions could be a less expensive option.

"Many things are handled well by the primary care physician, and I think that's one of the biggest things that we do," he said.

Dr. Meadows holds a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and is board certified in Family Practice by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is also a certified medical review officer.

A nurse practitioner, Audrea Garrett, is also available to see patients, who come from Henry County, as well as Barbour and Dale counties.
